blackberry administration service application server stops and restarts

I have had bes 5.0.1 in our environment for a few months now and all was working fine until yesterday. The bas-as.exe gets up to about 184,000 k of resources in task manager and then literally disappears. about a minute later, the service restarts and it repopulates the task manager. It needs to get up to 300,000 k before you can launch the bas. needless to say I can't function. Isn't the only interface to the devices through the bas? if someone wants a device configured, I am dead in the water. I did a lot of research, and it is reaching the remote database fine (devices still working, just can't get to them on the server). The ports are available. it is only one bes so there is no conflict with "singleton" issues with competing bas's as there is only one server. Any help would be appreciated.

You probably have your BES server configured as a DNS server as well. Disable the DNS Server service and BAS should start. The same thing happened to us just out of the blue one day.
