Default BESX and Verizon

I searched the forum and did not see any recent updates regarding the claim that Verizon will still make you pay the $44.99 plan if you use BESX, rather than the $29.99 plan. We just went on BESX last week and are on Verizon. So
1) Can I safley drop to the BIS $29.99 plan?
2) If I do #1 does OTA activation work?

Thanks.

1 - not a USA resident so cannot answer that

2 - in the UK is you run BIS data plan wireless activation is not possible, you must have BES data plan for this feature.

I am on verizon and downgraded to BIS $29.99 plan. Enterprise activation did go away. Use enterprise activation before you downgrade. After you downgrade you can use the bb desktop web interface to activate new devices. If you have a vpn or open it to the web it can be done remotely.

We're running BESX and are on Verizon. BESX does not require the Blackberry data plan. Any data plan will do. To partition new devices, register your BESX SRP at the BlackBerry Export Support center. Once you register, new devices can be run through the Device Rediness Check and BlackBerry will partition the handheld immediately.

What I observed is:

You must have the $45 Verizon Corporate data plan to get the Enterprise Activation option appear in the Advanced Options menu.

Once you have completed the Enterprise Activation, you may back your data plan down to the $30 basic plan.

Allen

We have a handful of VZW users on our BESX. We just use wired activations from the BAS.

If you are on a BIS plan, regardless of carrier, the wireless option to Enterprise Activate is gone. You can activate it wired through the regular Desktop Manager or the web version. Those were all rumors that Verizon was going to make you have the BES plan still.

I am a BES admin and many of our clients have Verizon. I can tell you we have had mixed results with users that downgrade their data plans once being activated. If this a business critical function, I would not recommend monkeying around with it. Plus sometimes I have seen when Verizon pushes out one of their many "forced upgrades" to their network it tends to knock off random users and we have to reactivate them. Just my $0.02 but again, if it's for real business use I wouldn't screw around to save the business $15/mo. It's a BS charge, but so is 90% of what comes on your VZW bill.
