Default BESX Admins... I have 2 questions.

Hi All,

We recently lost our exchange 2003 server to a hardware failure. Fortunately, I did have my exchange server backed up in a clean state... (whewwww.)

So I lost our BPS server, I decided lets load up the new BESX.

First I discover I cannot activate a bb that has a current IT policy no matter the server status Without a wipe. Not a prob. Only 5 BB's using in my small environment.

Moving on...

Q1: One of our blackberry 8330's has a unique problem that I've never seen. For the life of me, after enterprise activation, the calendar has absolutely no items in it. All the other 8330's are fine. Any thoughts on how to rectify this?

Q2: All of my BB users that have external email addresses set up on their device to send/receive gmail, aol, yahoo etc, cannot originate and send a message from anything other than the corporate email address and not their 3rd party gmail, aol, yahoo etc.

I am beating my head against the wall with these 2 items. If I could possibly knock one of these out, I'd probably exhaust my 1 free tech support incident for the other one.

Any and all thoughts are welcomed!

THANKS!

Don't know if this helps on your second question, but I discovered that even though I restored from backup after the wipe and activation and it appeared my yahoo account was ok and could even send service books, I didn't receive any yahoo mail until I logged into BIS and deleted and re-added the account. I'm thinking it has to do with the device having different security keys after the wipe, but I'm not sure.

Q1 may have been that the device was on a BIS account, not bes... I will know tomorrow when I come into work, as it was taking a long time for enterprise activation throught the web desktop manager.

Q2... Still waiting on the device to be returned to me so I can test the theory...

So thanks to everyone.

One more question:

Anothe of my users is complaining that the email reconciliation is not working... it works on all the others I've checked.

They can delete a message from the BB and it disappears from the outlook... but deleting from the outlook message does not delete the message on the BB. Her settings on the BB are: delete on: prompt... wireless recon: On... On Conflicts: Mailbox wins...

THANKS AGAIN!

For the calendar sync problem, try this....

On the BB device go into Options, Advanced Options, Enterprise Activation

hold the ALT button button down and type the letters "cnfg". This brings up up a hidden menu were you see one of the selections is "Wireless Sync".... Turn that off and exit. Wait a minute or two, go back into Enterprise Activations, do the ALT "cnfg" and turn Wireless Sync back on.

With regular BES, this forces a full re-sync to the server and may fix your calendar entries BUT I would strongly recommend that you do a backup prior to doing this as I personally seen weird things happen afterwards.

CBMEM, Thanks for this easy answer. The user told me this has worked perfectly for him...

Update: I resolved all the problems... Thanks!

About the calendar sync problem... It ended up being an exchange issue. Seems as the user (in microshaft outlook) removed permissions to the mailbox for all but himself. I re-added bes admin and gave editor access. This solved the calendar sync immediately.
