Default BES Re-activation

I'm surprised I haven't been able to find an answer on this because it seems to me these would be common questions. And searching the forums for "reactivation" and "reactivate" have turned up nothing of use.

NOTE: I'm not a BES or Exchange admin, I'm basically glorified help desk for department of a large university.

I am supporting a user with a Curve 8530 who began having sync issues using BES last week. Email comes across fine, but the calendar stopped syncing in both directions. I didn't test to see if the Contacts are syncing, but I'm assuming they are for now.

I had our BES Admin resend an activation code and I entered the code to reactivate. The activation status never went above 98% (after more than 3 days). It looks like it was hung up on either Maps or TCP/IP, depending on when I looked at it. The BES Admin has since rebooted the BES server, and I've since stopped the activation and am now waiting on a new activation code.

My question is this. Is the correct method of "Reactivation" to open Options | Advanced Options | Enterprise Activation and enter the code? Or should I first remove certain service books (any referring to "[Desktop]" from some articles I've read)? Or would it be best to go all out and do a "loader.exe /resettofactory" (method 3 posted here: KB14202-How to remove an IT policy from a BlackBerry smartphone

Finally, if I am forced to resort to a full factory reset, will I then need to go through the VZW reactivation (*228 I think)?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Sometimes it works to just remove the user from BES, add them back and re-activate. It's cured several of those "partial" activations.

Thank you. I'll ask if they are willing to do that.

Under the Device Management page on BES, there is an option to "Synchronize Calendar". That might solve your issue. Otherwise, I would try to Activate it again. I generally do it without wiping the device or anything first. If I still have trouble, I will delete the BES acct and do a Security Wipe of the device and redo it all

Thank you both for your replies. I'm having quite a delay from our BES Admin in getting the code, and now that it's been sent, the user is out sick today. At least I now have a plan to follow.

Assuming the worst and I need to factory reset, will I need to go through Verizon's activation as well?

The Security Wipe only removes Contacts, Calendar, Memos and other personal information. The phone will still be fine in all other respects.
