Default BES Express -> what does he need to access?

Gentlemen,

After 2 years of happiness using a BB device, I was now charged with installing our company BES Express. I have done an "all-in-one" install before, and it worked fine, however our setup is a bit different and one thing I don't quite understand:
In an Exchange 2007 SP1 environment, does the BES software connect to the server holding the Mailbox or rather Client Access role? In our architecture we have two clustered Mailbox server (with private IPs), and two load-balanced CA-Hub Transport servers (with both private IPs to connect to Mailboxes, and public to access and be accessed from outside). So I am not sure if I have to plug the BES into the private Mailbox switch or it can be pretty much anywhere..

Thanks a million!

Juraj

Default

My understanding is it talks to the mailbox role. So you will need to plug it into the private switch, and also allow it access to the outside world and the internet/BBI.
