Default BES Express problem with MAPI - Help

Installed today on Server 08 with Echange 07 = went just fine. DB is setup and all "looks" ok, services are running, except no activation emails. In BB Server Configuration, the BB Server Tab, then configure MAPI icon says it is not configured. BB Support site says:

Create and change the MAPI profile manually.
1. On the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server installation media, open the Tools folder.
2. Double-click the Fixmapisvc.exe file.
3. Verify that mapisvc.inf is installed in C:\winnt\system32\ or C:\windows\system32\.
4. On the taskbar, click Start > All Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration..
5. On the BlackBerry Server tab, click Edit MAPI profile.
6. Type the Microsoft® Exchange server name.
7. Click the Windows® account that is associated with the MAPI profile.
8. Click OK.
PROBLEM - when I double click Fixmapisvc.exe, the cmd box opens for just a second and closes AND the mapisvc.inf is not is the system32 folder. I found this file in the programs folder so I copied it to the system32 folder, however, when i go back into the configuration, MAPI tab, it still tells me it is not installed or configured.
I have downloaded and installed the MAPI/CDO file for exchange 07 from the MS website and executed it also.

I need to get the MAPI configured - any ideas??

EDIT - Got the MAPI Profile working, be aware, when rebooting during installation, you MUST log back on as BESADMIN. I logged in as Administrator and the BB install program told me I had to log in as BESADMIN, however, I did log off immediatley and log on as BESADMIN, and had to manually run the install program again.

Now I finally am getting the emails from BB, however, device is still awaiting activation.

I am trying to install BES Express 5.0.1 on an Microsoft 2008 x64 server that is running Exchange 2007 sp2. It is also a Domain Controller. I know I am piling things on here, maybe this is why people go virtual, and I may have to consider running the BES virtual, it is only going to support 3 blackberries, so I can probably allocate pretty low resources for it.
But I have successfully put BPS 4.1 on an SBS2003 server which is essentially doing the same thing I am trying to do now.

It gives me 2 errors.
Unable to find collaboration Data Objects Library (CDO.dll)
Microsoft Exchange Server detected (MAPI version 1.0.2536)

I installed the MAPI/CDO 1.2.1 (I can't post the link because my post count is too low)

http www microsoft com downloads/ details.aspx?FamilyID=E17E7F31-079A-43A9-BFF2-0A110307611E&displaylang=en

Edit:

I restarted the server after the CDO update and now I don't get the errors.
From what I have read, I am still expecting some kind of calendar not-syncing issues, I hope this doesn't happen of course.

I have the exact same setup as you and installed BES Express just as you. I did not get the same errors, however; I could not get any devices to activate. I found the fix, it is a AD issue and two registry changes and presto, it is working perfectly and I have 8 users going strong. I am home now and have the two fixes at work documented. If you need more help or the fixes, let me know I would be glad to forward you the fixes.

1. Find the IEMSTest.exe in the RIM Folders and run it from a command prompt - read the results very carefully, it will tell you what is wrong.

2. In AD:
1. Open Active Directory.
2. Select the "View" menu and ensure "Advanced Features" is checked.
3. Right mouse click on your domain name and select Properties
4. Select the Security tab
5. Press the Advanced button at the bottom on the security tab
6. Select "Add" and enter your Blackberry Service Account name (e.g.
BESadmin) and select OK
7. When the permissions screen appears change "Apply onto:" to "User
Objects" (or “Descendant User Objects” on Server 2008)
8. In the permissions box scroll down and check the Allow box
beside "Send As" and press OK
9. Press Apply and OK to exit

3. Registry Changes: Go to BB KB03304 - link:

Look at the post just above yours and there is a link that says "view document", just click on it and it will take you to the page with the registry changes.

Where did you extract the files from the download?

I am new to running the BES but have been a user for a few years and am now working on what sounds to be the same type of setup you have.

Any help would be appreciated.

JOE

N/M I found the problem as too why I wasn't able to get it working.

Has there been any other major hurdles for anyone?
