Default BES Express with hosted Exchange

I posted this reply to another existing thread, but that thread is in the Bold 9700 sub-forum, so I thought I would get my intended audience by re-posting it in a new thread here:

In my corporate environment we are using Exchange hosted with Microsoftonline.com

However I have several Windows Server 2003 and 2008 boxes in my datacentre. Is it possible to install BESX on one of my servers, and have it work with our hosted Exchange service? Or does something have to be physically installed or activated on the hosted side?

TIA!

My understanding is no. The BES or BESX must be installed on the same domain controlled network. A hosted exchange will not allow this.

Thanks. Yeah, I found out the hard way - I built a new Server 2008 VM, and tried to load BESX on it. No go with hosted exchange.
