Default BES Express 5.0.2 Sync issues

Hi All,

I just setup a BES express server on Windows server 2008 ENT x86. We also have Exchange 2007 SP1 on another Windows server 2008 ENT x64 on the LAN.

I have setup my Bold 9650 for enterprise email and was able to connect and sync, but the behavior is not what I would have expected.

In Outlook, I can delete an email. Shortly after, the email on my phone will also delete. Great. But where I'm not seeing syncronization is when I move an email in Outlook to a subfolder of my Inbox. The phone does not sync this. It remains in the Inbox on my phone.

Does anyone know how to change this behavior? I was expecting the phone to be synced with my Exchange mailbox.

Thanks.

BESX doesn't actually sync the email folders. What is synched is read/unread/delete. Moving emails in Outlook doesn't make them move on BB, because it isn't configured to do so.

However, Outlook rules carry over, so if you already know you will be filtering certain messages into those folders, set up and apply a rule, and the messages should reconcile properly when delivered to the device.

Does the retail version, BES, sync exchange mailboxes? I mean a true sync, not just read, unread, and delete?

Anyone? If someone knows the answer to this it would be very helpful.

If BESX will only sync read/unread/delete, will the full version of BES do a true sync of the mailbox?

Thanks.

Ok so BESX is the exact same back end as the full version of BES. The only difference is that the IT policies are reduced and some add-on functionality has been removed.

As for the syncing issue it all comes down to folder redirection. Each user has the ability to choose what folders will be redirected to their device. By default when a new user is setup only the Inbox and Sent items are synced with the device. If you already have rules setup in Outlook that automatically move a new message to a folder upon delivery the message will not show up on the device until you mark that folder for redirection. This can be done from the device itself or Desktop Manager. If the message is delivered to you inbox then moved to another folder manually this will be updated on the device. I hope this helps expain it alittle better. If you have any more quesitons please let me know.
