BES 5.0.1 activations much slower than BES 4.1.x
Recently we installed BES 5.0.1 on a VM (Windows 2008 w/ SP2 – 64-bit) hosted on a Windows 2008 R2 Hypervisor. We run Exchange 2003 w/ SP2 on Windows 2003 (2003 AD too) and SQL 2005.
We transported a couple dozen users from our existing BES 4.1.4 (800 users) with no issues. (Both BES are up and running in production simultaneously for now, until we ultimately transport all users over from the 4.1.4).
However, we have found that any NEW activations, or re-activations on BES 5.0.1 go extremely slow (some 30-45 minutes), or simply fail, yet if I activate the same device on BES 4.1.4 it activates within 5 minutes (all activations wireless). I've been able to decrease the activation time somewhat by adding our domain controllers under "Global Catalog Servers" and by
setting the "static mailbox agent" to "YES" prior to activating, then setting back to "NO" after activation completed.
Just wondering if anyone has any additional tweaks for BES 5.0.1 that will speed up wireless activation times?
