BES 4.1sp5 same time with trial BES 5.0

hi fellow admins, i was wondering if you can help please with a query i have.

i administer a single BES 4.0sp5 server with the database sitting on the local server. i have downloaded the BES 5.0 trial version and wish to install it on a stand-alone server on the same AD domain. can i run both BES4.0sp5 and BES5.0 on separate servers, but against the same Exchange 2003 and AD infrastructure.

the bb documentation was less than helpful

You should be able to. I ran a 4.0 and 4.1 against the same exchange server and a 5.0 against another. I don't think you'd run into any issues as long as you use the besadmin account on both machines. Just follow the set-up.

Note that the web interface is a pain in the arse at the start trying to find everything on the admin side of things.

But once you get the hang of it it's freakin amazing! Especially after SP1.

And check out the BlackBerry Transporter for moving users back an forth between the two BES's, it's rather good.

I'm not exchange but rather GroupWise running two BES's on the same email system, I haven't tried having the same user on both servers but I think that's something like dividing by zero and might create a fault in time/space continuum
