Default BBerry Express and web filtering.....

My network is currently setup with a Fortinet webfiltering device. I have 10 users that are syncing with my BES. Problem that they are having is that if they go certain websites with their phone my fortinet device is blocking their sites. Now some of the phones have been purchased by the employees and they would like more access.

Is there a setting on the BES to stop the BBerry's from using our webfilter?

In the options of the device browser, Browser Configuration, change Browser from "Blackberry Browser" to "Internet Browser".

This can also be changed in options, advanced options, browser which I think you may need to change it here to make it permenant as depending on the device, changing it when you open the browser only changes it for that session.

When activatived on BES or BESx, the default is to re-route browser data though your server using your local intranet ISP which as you have seen might be subject to limitations. If you have BES, you can send a custom policy to the devices to prevent this change if you desire your devices to be subject to your companies internet usage policies.

Changing to "Internet Browser" may speed up your device's internet data access in cases were your companies internet connection data rate is limited or rate controled.

Put your BES IP address in the exception list on the Fortinet.
