Default ATT 8820's Droping data from "EDGE" to "edge"

On MANY of our att 8820's and 8700's, the users are losing their data connection, they will not receive ANY mail, browser does not work, bes has pending data packers, ect. The problem is easily corrected by reseating the batt. or turning the mobile connection off then back on. This happens on a weekly and sometimes daily basis.

This problem is NOT experienced by ANY of the att bold 9000's or any verizon devices.

So this problem only seems to be att 2g devices. I have put in many tickets and they say the towers are working fine. I have contacted RIM and they say its a carrier issue. haha

Blackberry software verion doesnt seem to have any effect either, this has happend on 3 different 8820's with 3 different versions of software.

The problem could be a local tower, but this seems to happen to users that are on travel also. So its hard to confirm any local tower issue.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? or have and ideas?
