Bold 9900 charging dock

Hello,

I was just wondering if BB bold 9900 will recognize that it is on dock even if the dock is not plugged in on ac power?

Like if I just use the dock without the usb to microusb cable and without the power supply will it still activate the bedside mode and other things when BB is on the dock?

No.

Just tried it. Put the phone on the stand, without the stand being plugged in. No clock or the like. As soon as I plugged in the stand, the phone brought up the clock.
