Installation Instructions:

1- Backup your device using BlackBerry Desktop Software

2- Uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Software and remove all settings

3- Install the OS only first

4- Delete the vendor.xml and shrink the OS (optional)

5- Delete the entire Apploader folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

6- Install BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1 Build 42

7- Delete vendor.xml file again from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

8- Run loader to update

Thanks for sharing, although I really don't understand your suggestion to Uninstall DM from your PC first.

Btw there is already a higher build available:
9720 - 7.1.0.1083 (Vodafone UK)

If you read the 9720 - 7.1.0.1083 (Vodafone UK) thread you would know why, because with these new OSes if you simply upgrade without doing the above, then you will get an error message stating that a newer version of apploader is required to install this OS. So the above solution is the fix

by the way, I am still on the 7.1.0.1083 OS and also the 7.1.0.1046 OS has this bug:

When you are in a call, the screen would be black, so you can't access your phones. say for example you are talking to someone on the phone and you want to view your address book to tell him about the number of someone, you can't, the screen would be black and you cant multi task

I don't know if this OS fixes that issue although I doubt it because it's old not newer than the 7.1.0.1083 OS

The phone simply locks and if u press again it unlocks, no problems with that on 7.1.0.1083 I don't know about 7.1.0.1046 haven't used that OS much since it's very buggy (it's the first OS for the 9720 I believe)

Just tested this OS, it is much snappier than OS 7.1.0.1083, the latter was laggy as hell
