Today Plus theme Calendar issues
I have been using the Today Plus theme I downloaded from the blackberry mobile site for the past month on my Sprint 8830. All of a sudden the calendar icon on home screen has stopped displaying upcoming scheduled events. Is anyone else having this problem or know of any corrective action?

I pulled the battery a few times and even did a reinstall. It still didn't work. I will try it again. Thanks for the tip.

No not really. I even entered a test date in the calendar for the next day and it didn't show up either. It was working fine and all of a sudden decided to quit functioning correctly. It sucks because I really liked that theme.

I have this problem with all of the "today" themes (dimension today, bPhone today, etc). When I add things to the calendar, they don't always pop up on my home screen. Personally, the calendar view is the only reason I use a "Today" theme and it doesn't seem to be working. When I open my calendar, I see the appointments but they don't always show up on my homescreen. Does anyone else use Google sync to sync their google calendar with the bb? I was originally thinking that this was causing the problem because most of my appointments in my calendar come from my google calendar and they weren't showing up. I just tested the theme by adding a new appointment by hand directly on my BB and it didn't work...
Could be an issue with the refresh rate?
Any ideas? - 04-14-2008, 07:07 PM #8
I'm on BES syncing with Outlook and have never had a problem with the Dimension Today theme showing appointments. The only exception is all day events which I learned early on not to use when I set the appointment up in Outlook.

I have the same issue, and tried a few things with strange results. I'm putting this out there for troubleshooting purposes:
First, I found that sometimes changing the theme away from the today theme, and then back again to the today theme, makes an upcoming appointment suddenly show up when it wasn't showing before.
Second, I found that when I went into an appt on my BB for the next day that SHOULD have been showing up (but wasn't) and modified it (I made mine "private") and saved it - I suddenly had 2 versions in my calendar and the new one shows up on my today screen!

Pretty much I had to delete the entry and reenter them for them to show up

8310 Curve
4.2 desktop software worked for the first week or so. then it started skipping appointments in the view but the appointment was in the calendar. example,,, if i had 15 appointments, the top screen would show the 1st and the 4th. i ended up deleting the 4th appointment and the 1st and 2nd showed up, very cool - it's working. the following morning the view shows 1st and 15th appointments.
i've tried everything from changing back and forth teh themes to pulling battery. it seems very random, and has nothing to do with the sync.
too bad because i love the today theme but with the bogus calendar info i can't use it. - 05-14-2008, 10:28 AM #15
I have had this issue in the past with my wife's phone not showing the correct items for the calendar spot. I came to find out that she was copying items from an e-mail and pasting them directly into the appointment in Outlook.
After spending nearly 3 hours on the phone with BB technical support with someone in Singapore he told me that the issue was with the cut and paste and to always type things directly into your calendar in order to have them sync right. He stated it corupts the data when you do a copy paste.
One other issue that I have that maybe someone knows the answer too is in this same theme I often get text messages stuck on the page. Meaning after I open them it still shows them there and won't go away??? Anyone ever seen this before? - 05-14-2008, 02:20 PM #16
I use a Today theme and this exact thing bugs the **** out of me.
I use Google Calendar for all my calendaring needs, and use the synch tool to update with the Blackberry. But what I've noticed is that any appointments that have specific times, like a work meeting or something show up fine, but ANYTHING that is an allday event, or holiday, basically anything that doesn't have a set time will not show up.
I hate this because I have all the family birthdays, my bill due dates, holidays, time off, housesitting, etc... all scheduled into Gcal, and it works great on the comp, but in the Berry they never show up.
I'm just amazed that ti's been like this for all this time and nobody's ever done anything about it.

hummm
I don't cut and paste BUT I do send and accept meeting invitations. The ones that show in the "view" are appointments I put into Outlook. The ones that are not showing appear to be meeting invites that I have accepted and anything reccuring.

calendar corrupted
the reason that the theme is unable to display the appointments, and that sometimes you need to remove the appointment, and re-add to view it is because the calendar database on the device is corrupted.
the best way to resolve it is to push the calendar from outlook to the device
PC)
*Make sure outlook calendar is up to date.
-back up your blackberry data before doing this, using backup and restore from desktop manager.
-then in backup and restore, choose advanced.
-in the advanced screen, on the box on the right (device databases), choose calendar, then click clear. (if you have calendar-all. do the same)
-after this all you need to do is synchronize with outlook to import all the calendar entries to the device. (make sure during synchronization that nothing in outlook will get deleted)
after you synchronize with outlook, reset the device.
after this, the theme should display everything perfectly.
if you have a mac, it would be different.
