I think Verizon might be in the process of testing OS4.5 for release on the 8830. I say this because as of a few days ago, I noticed that I all of a sudden have a BBMap Service Book on my phone. As you know, prior to OS4.5 there was no requirement for this kind of service book for BBMaps to work, but with the release os OS4.5, the control for whether or not you can use BBMap will now be handled by a service book. (Probably has to do with AT&T complaining to RIM about their users' unlocking the ALX file to get BBMaps loaded on their BBs and loosing revenue from their Nav subscriptions.) Anyway, if anyone else has VZW and an 8830, check to see if you too have a BBMaps service book. If you don't, do a Register Handheld in HTR and see if it pushes out.

I'll be happy once 4.5 gets here.

4.5 is the big update that should give us HTML e-mail viewing, and a few other things. If you can find it, you can get a beta version of 4.5, but it won't do you much good until the service providers update their servers.

Agreed. I've been wanting to buy one of the smart e-mail viewers, but I think I'll just hold out for 4.5.

Well I bought a verizon curve, with os 4.3 and I don't have html email viewing(am I doing something wrong?). I was under the impression that 4.3/4.5 were the same? Or maybe I'm just incredibly ignorant and have no idea what I'm talking about!

OS v4.3 doesn't have html email viewing, Os v4.5 should.

I *think* that he's talking about the Host Routing Table, which would be HRT instead of HTR. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it has the option to register in there.

go to: Options -> Advanced Options -> Host Routing Table -> Press menu button -> Register Now

I have verizon wireless, not an 8830 but an 8330. I have a service book for BBmaps that wasn't on my pearl before.

    Does yours look like this?

    "BlackBerry Maps - NA [LbsConfig]"

    Newbie:
I had recently purchased the 8130 Pearl from Verizon which had a font BBSans and BBSans Serif-which was the best font I have seen for the Crackberry's.

My questions is, now that I have switched out to the 8830, it doesn't have this font option-is there a theme that is available that has these fonts or will an upgrade to 4.5 be included with these fonts.

Is there a theme or way to add the BBSans font to my 8830?

    Thanks all.

JRSCCivic98: I re-registered the HRT several times since your email. So far the service books have not changed. But since I re-registered, I've lost my instant notification of posts to subscribed threads. Can you think of any connection between re-registering and losing notifications? All other emails are arriving normally.

Reregistering has nothing to do with losing notifications. I'm having the same problem and have not re-registered.

Thanks. I saw your response to my other thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. And your username doesn't start with 'J', so that tends to rule out that theory, too.

    Hey JRRSCivic98,

I'm on at&t, and i have that service book, allowing me to use BBMaps.

Theres 2 ways to get BBMaps on to your at&t Blackberry..

OTA at mobile.blackberry.com or modding the .alx file

I forget where i read it, but SUPPOSEDLY RIM basically told the carriers that BBMaps can't be blocked...

supposedly, meaning i will not vouch for that, because i did not speak to Mike Lazaridis personally, so its just a rumor at this point.
