Question: When importing vcf files generated in Outlook 2003 to the BB address book, I notice that BB 8830 does not not retain the phone number categories, such as business phone, mobile phone etc, but lists them under general, which is a real pain. Anyone know how to get around that issue?

I get around it by synching my BlackBerry to Outlook 2003 directly, rather than exporting contacts from Outlook and importing them to the BlackBerry. Synching maintains the proper phone number description.

How do you synch with outlook directly?

Set up the synchronization using Desktop Manager. There's a default mapping of Contact fields to Address Book fields that works for most people. You can customize the sync by going to the advanced tab. I'm a BES user, so my contacts sync OTA to Outlook. If you're on BIS, you'll have to plug into a USB cable to sync.
