I need help...i was updating to 4.2.2.196 and during the process my phone turned to a black screen...it won't come back up and the led flashes red twice every few seconds...any help is greatly appreciated!
Did you wait until the wizard finished or did you think something went wrong and decided to pull the battery or unplug the cable?
You have to wait people... it takes a while and it'll go to a blank screen while the bootloader is writing the firmware. It's normal because RIM turns off the screen during this process.
4.2.2.176 is the latest Verizon 8830WE OS. But you can use 4.2.2.196 from Sprint. I don't know what the differences may be. John Clark's or Stoner's Memory threads will tell you where and how to get it. I'm responding via wapforum and can't give you the links. 4.3/4.5 is not available for the 8830 from any carrier to my knowledge.
