Does anyone know if it is possible to use the 8830 as a modem under GSM. I tether fine state side, but I am in Germany and when I try to connect the 8830 does not even swtch to modem mode. Is there something I am missing or is it just not possible.
I don't think it's possible... at least not with VZW's software becase that interfaces with the Qualcomm radio chipset for tethering, which is not being used when in GSM mode.
K, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't something that went crazy in the laptop. I figured as much, but wanted a sanity check form people who actually have tethering on their account.

It works!! I have the total package, BB, teatehring and international sims. I was able to use teathering with the VZ software while in Germany. I think you need to be on a Vodaphone network for it to work.
