I have looked for an hour to determine what the gold 2-conductor terminal is on the left side of the 8830 is, but there aree no diagrams to describe it in Google images, or even the user manual (no pictures at all). Charging posts? Is there a driop-charger for this product? Much appreciated!!

Yes, those are charging terminals. I never saw a charger that used them.
