I just got a 8830 on a corporate plan, and I can't get Google maps or Yahoo Go! to access the GPS. Blackberry maps can use the GPS. When I try to Edit Permissions for Google or Yahoo, the "Location(GPS)" option only has "DENY" available. When I check "Edit Default Permissions", that also has only "DENY" available.

Could my corporations policy settings be enforcing GPS settings? That would be silly since I can "Allow" or "Prompt" all of my other settings including "Internet" and "Corporate Network."

Yes, this is something that's in the BES Policy. Probably something they have overlooked in the policy settings is my bet.
