So, I just bought a "New" Unlocked Blackberry World Edition from eBay for $56...
- Should I be excited or should I be sad that I spent so much on an older phone?
I was excited at first, but then I discovered that this phone doesn't have a camera... Not that I ever used the camera feature on my old phones that much, but still...
So, what do you guys think? Is this a grade A phone and I won't miss the camera (Especially since I'm not getting a data plan)?

1) Sprint offers the 8830 as well, and this one comes already unlocked. So, obviously it's not Verizon only.
2) Other people have put T-Mobil SIM cards into the 8830. In fact, it's been people here on this forum that have done it. I'd give you a link, but the forums won't let me. =(
So yeah, if he can do it, why can't I?07-20-09 08:48 PMLike 0 - Should I be excited or should I be sad that I spent so much on an older phone?

You can mute a call with the opposite button on top! AND, the keepboard is simply the best that RIM has ever made. The phone looks professional and feels great in your hand. I work in a vzw store and I can tell you that the Tour keyboard does not come even close! Good buy indeed!
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com07-21-09 12:19 AMLike 0 - That can't be true for two reasons:
1) Sprint offers the 8830 as well, and this one comes already unlocked. So, obviously it's not Verizon only.
2) Other people have put T-Mobil SIM cards into the 8830. In fact, it's been people here on this forum that have done it. I'd give you a link, but the forums won't let me. =(

1)Yes they both offer it and I believe you can use an unlocked Sprint on Verizon or vice-versa. They are CDMA which only exist in America.
2) It supports Europe's GSM network not the band we use here in the Unitder states. Your phone will not work in the US on T-Mobile, that's what the 8820 is for.07-21-09 06:12 PMLike 0 - Ok unfortunately if you are using T-Mobile then the 8830 isnt going to work for you.
T-Mobile and AT&T both work on GSM networks which use SIM cards to store the customers information (phone number).
Sprint and Verizon both work off of CDMA networks and DO NOT use SIM cards but have everything plugged into the device itself.
You can use an unlocked AT&T device on T-Mobile but you CANNOT use it on Sprint or Verizon. GSM and CDMA both work on different bands and use different radios. The only reason the 8830 has a SIM slot is simply for out of the country usage. That is why it is called the World Edition, if you leave the country you contact your provider and they activate the SIM. If you want the correct device for T-Mobile then it would be the "8820" NOT the 8830. I would contact the seller on eBay and try to work something out, hope this helps.
Also Verizon is the only CDMA network in the US to have their network "open" which means they will except Sprint devices to work on their network. Sprint has their network closed and can only use there own devices.07-21-09 08:55 PMLike 0
