My 8830 will not turn off. The screen either stays on the messages screen or sometimes it will go to the phone log and will not just go black. ALso the space bar has stopped working. could these be related? My backlight has always been set to 30 sec and it has not changed.
Try doing a soft reset Alt > Shift > Delete and see if that solves the issue. If not, perhaps a battery pull will do the trick. I am not sure if the space bar issue and the screen lock are related.
Nothing happens when I hit Alt+Shift+delete. tried the battery pull and that appears to have solved the backlight staying on. space bar must be broken.
