yes, they can be switched around. I purchased a black key board for 3.99 from cnn order of keys now it is a QWERTY key pad in black ;>),,
Switching keys around on the layout will not change what the character pressed is.... that's hardwired into the keyboard. All keyboards work like this.
the key type control is not controlled buy the key pad but by the unit itself. So before i did the switch Example of top row AZERTY however it still typed as QWERTY but with the switch the keys type as they are shown. The only thing now the #,*,1,7 show wrong on the keypad but type in the location with the associated letter. hope this make sense. example the top row now shows *,7,2,3 but type #,1,2,3.....
I can deal with the (4) minor key issues. Actually i could have left it as it was but for me it is just easier see the ALPHA key in the proper location. Like JRSCCivic98 stated No matter where you place the KEYS the 8830 is a QWERTY device.
