Default Recover Original Sample Media on Verizon 8830

Hello everyone. I'm new here and new to Blackberries as well.

I'm a cell phone enthusiast, and enjoy collecting different cell phones. I purchased a Verizon Wireless 8830 on eBay, and received it today. When I tried to connect it to my computer, the desktop software informed me that I needed to update the software. After the update, I noticed the all the sample media was gone and some of the pre-loaded ringtones were shortened. I am heartbroken.

After doing a bit of research, I still haven't found too much helpful information. Is there anyway I can restore those files, or restore the entire device back to it's previous state?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

UPDATE: I was able to download the 4.2 device software given in the thread requesting the desktop version. This download restored the original files.

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the OS while keeping the sample media files?
