I just picked up the Sprint 8830 a couple of weeks ago. I really really like the phone but can't seem to get AIM or Yahoo Instant Messenger working. I go to the download sites from my mobile browser and install as instructed but when I go to run either program it always asks me to go back to the same sites where I downloaded the program to activate. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Any solutions?
Get JiveTalk instead. It is simply the best IM client available and it works with all of the major IM carriers and consolidates everything into one client. It's free to try and $20 to license.
I have Yahoo on my Sprint 8830 and didn't have any problems.
This maybe silly, but do you have an account with both of these?
I do have a Yahoo and an AIM account. I tried contacting Sprint Blackberry tech support regarding the problem and they referred me to Yahoo and AIM. After spending about an hour on hold, I spoke with both companies and they both asked me to call Sprint. Typical.
