I have been having problems with my BB 8830. It seems like every couple weeks or so some of the buttons lose functionality. Usually the end call button and some of the buttons in that vacinity like the P, and del buttons. Sometimes its ALL the buttons on the outer edges, such as the A and alt buttons as well. I have not gotten the phone wet. At this point the track ball works only to navigate but not to execute a function. No idea whats going on, but things typically go back to regualr at some point but it is a huge pain while this is happening. Any ideas, is this common?

This is the second phone I have had, the first displayed problems like this too.

Can you possibly relate it to memory beuing extremely low at the time?

    Options>status

    Is this a reconditioned replacement?

Mine does the same thing and the only solution seems to be regular (weekly) battery pulls.

What is the OS on your device and the Free File memory?

the file free says 12396647 bytes free as for the os, i have not changed ANYTHING so whatever the standard or default os is thats what i am using. I have not downloaded anything with the exception of pics. I have cleared the text memory, pulled the battery countless times.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Mandrus,

You are just above the minimum low Free File memory of 12 000 000 bytes for the device to operate efficiently.

If you do not have a media card to store your pics on, you should get one and also do at least the basic steps in Stoner's guide to free up some additional memory.

It may make a difference with your key problem.

That doesn't tell us very much. If you didn't just recently buy your BB, you could have a very outdated OS version, which could be the cause of your issues. On the same screen as you saw the memory info, look and see what OS version you're running. Post the info... we can't read your mind.

On the screen where I viewed the memory, the other listings are esn, imei, pin, signal, and battery.

Esn is there twice, which one indicates the os?

    Go here... BlackBerry® Software Updates

Download the latest OS and install it with Desktop Manager. Make sure you do a backup first. Then see how it goes. If you continue to have issues, it could be a hardware problem.
