I guess what I am asking about is how do I turn on predictive text. I know the pearl has it. Is this not an option for this phone?

Nope. The 8830 has full QWERTY so no predictive text or SureType

Like Azeis says, it's QWERTY, and thus does not need it!

The iPhone is QWERTY and has the feature. It'd be cool to have in case you hit a wrong key by accident (fat fingers, etc).
I personally wouldn't use this feature w/ the Curve but it'd be nice to have it just to have it.

having something just to have it only wastes memory on the device. I don't find it necessary on the Curve.
