One thing that has been bugging me is the inability to mark all messages on my BB as read. Is there a way to select a range or multiple messages and mark them read? Or do I have to do one at a time?

I've puzzled with this as well....seems like one at a time, my friend, unless there's a 3rd party app or plugin out there somewhere.

On the 8700 with 4.1 I have the option of "mark all prior as opened" when I open the menu from the date bar. (does that make any sense?)

hitting "u" on an open message will take you through each one very quickly

Yes, shift & scroll highlighting several emails, when you push the trackball or track wheel, it will give you the option of marking all as read, deleting all, etc.
