However, when he was on the phone he noticed that his call log & email went missing. The last thing that he did was download the ringtones, however, the call log & email on my cell phone are still there

Yeah, memory leakage...

When the system memory (not card memory) gets too full from apps, texts, calls... It just deletes EVERYTHING...
