Verizon's newly released 4.2.2.196 supports 8gb. Normally you can use any carrier's os for your platform by deleting the vendor.xml file, but I have not verified this, nor have I read of anyone doing it yet. Try at your own risk.

Just for curiosity, how would I get it if I could? Apparently it's not as easy as updating the OS for, say, the Ipod, which tells you you need it and basically does everything on its own (nice).
Like I said, I don't believe there is a 4.3 OS out there for the 8830. There is 4.3 for the 8330 but that is a completely different BB. There may be a 4.5 beta OS for the 8830 but I'm not sure on that as I don't follow the 8830's very closely.
I have an 8830. I haven't been paying close attention to the beta 4.5 either, but I believe the various betas are only for gsm phones. And they're betas because they're still not ready for release, so I wouldn't put that on my phone anyway.
You should be able to use Verizon's 4.2.2.196 to accomplish what you want re the card.
Another option is to format the card with FAT32 in a PC, then use it in your device. Again, you're operating outside the spec for your device, so do it at your own risk, but a number of people have reported that it works.

I have the s8830 v4.2.2.322 can it take the microSD High Capacity (microSDHC)
That is a more complicated question than I first realized. It depends both on your OS version and whether your hardware is capable of supporting SDHC. Here is a thread that explains the differences. It may help answer your question. http://forums.crackberry.com/f40/4gb...icro-sd-26788/
