Default messages vs any message

Ok I know this sounds probably corny but I figured I'd ask. What's the difference between the "messages" and the sms message, and any email messages? I noticed that when clearing out the "messages" it also removes listed messages from the associated email or sms message location. I'm a bit confuzzled about this. Any help would be great.

Jack the messages folder is like a catch all for every type of message. Now you can seperate your email messages from sms if you want. Then the sms will appear in its own folder. The email will appear in the messages as well as its respective folder. Also BBM messages will be in messages folder as well as BBM app. Hope this clears up some confusion...

If it bothers you, it is possible to hide the Messages folder and just use the individual message inboxes. The only downside is that if you get a PIN message, the only way to open it is to unhide the messages folder, since that is the only place they show up.

Not that it bothered me so much as much as I just didn't know. I'm still a noobie with a crackberry is all. What's the major significance with pin messages anyway?
