Default Leaving 8830 for the Storm or Bold?

I was just curious as to how many people are planning on making the switch and if so what are your reasons?

...as a Sprint customer I can't do either since they're both "exclusive".

I'll try out the storm and see how the touch screen feels. The bold just seems like the same old same old except for the new OS.

And yeah since the bold is 'exclusive' to AT&T, forget it. I have heard way too many bad things about AT&T.

VZW is a little pricey, but maybe with the storm it would be worth it

I am leaving Windstream Wireless here in NC to go to VZW to get the Storm. My usb tab broke on my 8830 and I don't feel like paying $180 to fix it when I can get a Storm for $199.

I'm thinking really hard of switching to the Storm. I'll have to play around with it first hand before I make a decision but either way I'll wait to get it cheaper since I just used my new EV2 on my 8830 about 8 months ago.

Switching to the Storm, as soon as someone figures out a way to Jailbreak or Unlock the device...this will probably happen within the first week of release, just like the iPhone. I wouldn't be surprised to see unlocked and jailbroken storms on eBay for upwards of $500! I am sure the Bold will be unlocked at somepoint as well. I think the Bold looks a bit sharper than the 8830.

I've already spent plenty of time playing with the Storm and I love it. So....yup, I'm ditching my 8830 for the Storm.

It's better looking (IMO), it's faster, better OS, and MUCH bigger screen....I love the screen.

I'm planning on trading in my 8830 for a Storm. Part of it is the cool factor, part of it is the fact that my 8830 is 2 yrs old, and part of it is that I would get a Bold, but my Corp plan is VZW and have no plans of switching to AT&T.

Neither the storm of the bold but I will probably switch to the 8900 when it comes out. Verizon seems expensive for the BB plans and ATT I don't think is much cheaper.

I've already had the Storm; used it for the last 2 weeks, then came back to the 8830 (purely personal preference). Now waiting out the CDMA Bold...or the Niagra, as it's currently code-named

I have been playing around with the Storm and I am not absolutely convinced that it will work for me. However, choices are limited since I need a World phone and my company only offers VZW plan, so Bold is not an option. My NE2 is up soon and by Feb I can replace my 8830 WE. My worry with the Storm is that its just not going to be as quick but there are other pluses (e.g. screen). The keyboard on the times that I tried it seems as if it could be okay. But it was difficult to edit within text. Lack of a Today theme is a pain too.

So, I'm going to try the Storm if anything for the lack of any better options. Who knows when the CDMA Bold will appear on VZW. I would guess not for another year. Can't see VZW giving people like me that kind of choice when they want to crank out the Storm sales IMO.

The Storm is a nice device, it just takes alot of getting used to imho, and it will need a couple more OS updates before it's nice and smooth on operation. And yes, you do lose some speed on typing, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad =) Overall, I think it's a great phone for a first-release by RIM, and it has alot of potential

That being said, I'm holding out for the Bold/Niagra now. Yeah, it might be a year down the road, but then again it might be by the time your NE2 comes up in Feb, or mine in June . Keep in mind that they're appealing to two different types of users, the touchscreenies and the die-hard-key-mashers, so it's possible that they can have two BBs released within a small window of time and still do well, sales-wise. If you can't wait though, there is always the Curve 8330; and of course the Curve/Jupiter 8900 hopefully isn't too far away either (another VERY nice phone on the horizon) =P

I guess it all comes down to what you have the patience for *shrug*

I certainly can wait...but I do need a phone with international calling capabilities. I am not sure whether the Bold CDMA version if it ever materializes on VZW will have this capability and I don't think the Curve/Jupiter will have this either. So you see my dilemma.

I know this is only somewhat related but I have the 8820 and I'm happy with it and not looking to make the switch.
