Hello all! New user here! Really, REALLY glad that I found this site!

I quick question...I want to go out tomorrow and buy an SD card for my 8830 WE (mainly for video and pictures). In looking at the Sprint site, it seems that the largest card I can use is 2gb. Is that correct? If not, what is the largest that I can use?

Thanks very much for the help with this!

Technically, it will only support a 4Gb microSD

Theoretically, you can use an 8Gb (which is the largest available at this time)... all of the storage will not be accesible because the device will not recognize all of it. This has something to do with the BB OS. In OS 4.5, 8Gb and beyond will be supported

It is amazing how much storage can fit on those tiny things!!

By the way... Amazon.com: SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC Memory Card with MobileMate Reader (Retail Package): Electronics

**EDIT: And some flavors of 4.2.xx support 8Gb as well as 4.3.xxx... blah blah... there are other topics to cover all the details

**EDIT 2: AND... Welcome to CrackBerry!!!

    This is from T-Mobile's Site

The maximum size microSD memory card supported depends on the handheld software version. Review the following information on supported microSD file size:

BlackBerry software version microSD card size limit
Software version: 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
Software version: 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
Software version: 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
Software version: 4.3.0 Up to 8GB

Note: This is for TMobile devices running these OSes. Other carriers have different OS revisions specific to that carrier that locks, unlocks, adds, removes certain features... therefore, there is a version of 4.2.2xxx that supports the 8Gb. Someone stated previously in this thread the exact version number. And that information is accurate.

What you provided is only for TMobile!! But that is good info if you are a TMo person, like myself I am hoping that the new OS 4.5 comes out officially for TMobile soon... I am always wary about betas and do not wanna lose functionality of my WiFi and UMA!
