I played "Stump the Verizon Tech"... and won!
- So my 8830's usb port breaks, I get an insurance replacement.
Over the weekend, I restore my settings from a recent backup.
I'm online, makin' calls, doin the thing.
I notice, however, that I am not receiving EM, so Monday, I call VZW tech support.
Tech #1, cannot help, I need the pin from my old phone, which I do not have anymore because I mailed it in.. No pin, no help.
Tech #2, same story.
Tech #3 finds my old pin #, and changes the account to my new pin.
Success!
This was on 11/20, and I'm getting EM's
Not so fast.
Yesterday, I started receiving EM sent to my account, addressed to another person.
And I cannot send my EM's anymore.
Today, I called VZW Tech #4, who tries a number of things, nothing works.
He is one of the best Tech's I've talked to. Seriously.
We call RIM (he calls, I'm along for the ride)
Apparently in the time it took to change my account info to the new pin, another phone pin was inserted in the account.
So it can't be cleared by RIM, and I might lose my EM address.
I was on the phone for ~1.5 hrs.
I've had the EM address for 2 years.
He was supposed to call me back by 2:00 PM.
No call.
arghhhhh!
PS I also asked Tech #4 about the chances of VZW unlocking GPS
"Zero" was his response.
PPS RIM's music on hold is much better than VZW.12-05-08 04:40 PMLike 0 - Um what the heck is EM. If that's supposed to mean "email", that's the worst abbreviation I've ever seen.12-05-08 06:04 PMLike 0

EM=Email, I'm a newbie. and a lazy typist.
I'd rather be the underdog.12-05-08 07:12 PMLike 0
