well , what can I do to turn off that annoying sound every time an e-mail comes

Check out the profiles icon - it's in there when you click edit.

Hey Trinston, thank you ,but somehow I can't find the 'edit' button.All I see is 'loud,vibrate,quiet,normal,phone only,off and advanced...
I'm sure it is very simple, but I just don't get it

Select the advanced option under profiles and it will then list all of the profiles, select one and then hit the BB/menu key and select edit.
