Can anyone give me some pointers/information regarding how to use a BlackBerry 8830 from U.S. Cellular to play itunes?

You can use Media Sync to sync your iTunes playlists, but only if they do not have DRM and are in a compatible audio format. Supported Media Types

Currently there is no RIM software that you can use to strip the DRM from the ITunes songs you have. You'll need to strip the DRM in another way (i.e. burn to CD and rip them again or use 3rd party software to rip the DRM direct). Then you can put the songs on the BB and play them. You'll run into this issue with all ITunes DRM songs with other devices that aren't made by Apple... it's not just a BB issue.
