Headset adapter

I have a regular 8830 phone and bought a Blackberry HDW-15306-001 headset adapter.

I have Monster Turbine headset that is audio and speach, I use them to talk and listen on my LG Dare phone. I can also use them on my iPod Touch for music.

When I plug them into the BB I can hear fine but no one can hear me speak. Is it the phone or adapter?
