Divide your number by 1 million to convert to MB. So in your case that would be 5.7 MB.

Wow! 5.7 isn't very good is it? I came over from a Storm being used to 35 to 40 mb free with the same apps. on it. Sould it be higher for better preformance?

Actually, that would be closer to57.0 MB (although entering "57004444 Bytes to MB" into Google gives 54.36 MB)

Although i put one to many numbers in there you are correct. I found a conversion program on line and punched in what the phone is showing and it converted it to 4.8 MB. You would think these phone would have more memory than that.

    1,024 KB = 1 MB.
    1,024 MB = 1 GB.

Dividing by 1,000 can give you a close approximation, but it is a crude one. If you're eyeballing a number, it's easy to divide by 1,000. However, if you want an exact idea and have a calculator handy, divide by 1,024.

The 8830 only has 64MB of flash memory, while the Storm has 128MB, I believe. On my 8830 I am constantly fighting the memory battle, and at most usually only have about 5-6 MB free.

Do a search for Crackmem and the memory optimization procedure. By getting rid of preloaded junk, you can vastly improve your available memory. The 8830 works best at or above 12MB. Mine typically runs between 15 and 13MB. When you get too low on memory, the device dumps old messages without prompting you, which is slightly annoying.
