    Hi,

    I recently purchased a Sprint 8830 and I'm trying to hook it up with the laptop for the first time.

    I've installed the Desktop Manager that came bundled (Ver 4.2.2.12) and when I open the Application Loader Wizard, I get the following message:

    "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer."

    The OS version on the device seems to be V4.2.2.123.

    It seems like there is a newer version of the Desktop Manager V4.3. Would installing this solve this?

    go HERE
    and download the sprint OS that matches the handheld OS. You need to have that installed on your PC as well.

    Is the DESKTOP carrier specific? I downloaded from another link but it did not say SPRINT?

    No it is not device or carrier specific.
