My father got given a used 8830 blackberry by a friend of his who didn't like it because it was to big. Well the car charger he gave my dad went bad, so my dad kept jiggling the plug trying to make it work. Now USB, and the home charger all wont connect to the port unless you sit there and literally hold the cord in one position the entire time. Is there anyway to fix the port? It would be a shame to have to throw out such a good phone.

If you google "BlackBerry Repair Service" you will find many possibilities. I can't recommend any since I haven't used them. You'll have to weigh the cost of the repair against the value of a very capable but obsolete phone.

Has anyone ever tried to replace the port them selves? How hard is it? I mean Ive soldered before, Im just curious if its one of those things where you need a super tiny soldering iron to do it because Ive never had good luck with that before.
