I just bought a 8830 WE from eBay and it's unlocked, I inserted my SIM card (from rogers) expecting it to work, but the old number is still on it. How do I change that to my number???

the sim card slot will not work in North America. It will only work when you travel abroad. The GSM freq are 850/1800Mhz for NA and 900/1900Mhz accross the pond

This is not true. I accessed the engineering menus once on this phone and the phone itself IS quad-band. Problem (and I never got this far with it) was seeing if a SIM from a north american provider would work. Each time I tried to unlock the phone, it bricked.

This phone is NOT quad band. Never has been and never will be. They will read the SIM card from north american providers but they wont be able to connect to the networks due to differance in frequencies. The hardware simply isn't in the phone. It is quad band in the sense of seeing the 900/1900MHz GSM and the 1900/2100MHz CDMA.
