Hi,
I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of where to go to get the 4.5 upgrade for my 8830WE. I went to the verizon website and the only upgrade that came up for the 8830WE was 4.2.... I have been at this for over an hour now and looking for some advice! Thanks for the help

I could also use some help upgrading to 4.5... i googled it but all that comes up is forum topics from other sites about 4.5. If i could get the PM's explaining the process more in depth I would be very grateful... Thanks

Use the search function on specific installation, but google that number for the latest OS version.
I just upgraded to 4.5.0.77 and it works great.Lost the factory ring tones but I never used them anyway. The HTML email is great! I was way nervous to do this but just follow the directions and you should be fine.
There's a thread on here somewhere about how to get the ringtones back on there if you want. Its pretty simple, you jsut have to move a file from the old OS on your PC to the new one.
I have finally found and downloaded the Beta .101 I do not know the procedure for upgrading my Verizon 8830 though. could someone email me or PM me with procedures. I'm not illiterate, just not educated.
Double-click the file you downloaded, to install the OS as an app on your PC. Then download and install CrackMem from the link in my sig. Run CrackMem on your PC and it will help you with the install.
As an alternative, you can follow the "Proper Upgrade / Downgrade Procedure" that's linked in my sig. It's more involved, but will also work. I've used both methods. The latter may be better if you have 3rd party apps installed, since it explicitly prompts you to back them up.
It worked wonderfully. I lost my "extra" stuff. no big deal. I didn't feel the need to back up apps. I would like to have BB Maps and I don't. Did I do something wrong. I tried to download from another link, said I am not compatible. Thanks again for the help.
The OTA downloadable version of BBMaps is only for obsolete versions of the OS. Current versions include BBMaps as part of the OS load, so you have to install BBMaps using the App Loader. Run Desktop Manager App Loader and check the box for BBMaps. That will install it.
it will ask you to enter a 3 letter code(CASE SENSITIVE) then press download. after you hit enter there will be 2 choices, premium download and free download. you have to wait to hit free, about a minute. I know this sounds questionable but I did it myself and had no problems. PM me if you have any questions.
