Calendar synch died

I have an 8830/Verizon and running Outlook 2007-SP2 on a Vista platform. All was synching and suddenly no more calendar synch. No calendar attachments, using one calendar, synching over USB. Uninstalled all Desktop Manager sw and reinstalled. All synching does is re-set the time to Enitowok (even when reset date/time) is unchecked in DM.
Likely user-error, but please help me find mypoint of idiocy.

I have wasted an entire day on this. Elsewhere on this site it was recommended to delete the email account listed under Advanced settings/Default Services that is shown as the CICAL. that worked once but hasn't again. have tried everything, including import ASCII versions. The database manager shows the requisite number of entries but I cannot see them on the device itself. Very frustrating.
