Hi, can anyone out there help on this issue? I'm using BB 8830 WE Alltel set in Malaysia which uses GSM line with EDGE connectivity. Unfortunately the device only capture GPRS but not EDGE. MAy i know why? Is this device supported EDGE or just GPRS? Let me know as soon as possible thru my pin:-

I also have an altell handheld 8830 we and am facing similar problems on a similar network setup. I should be receiving 1XEV but all i get is 1X. I've had this problem since day one with this phone Data works fine but it just does not register.

Im going to try installing telus's new os and see if that fixes anything.

I have the same problem. Any solutions for the same? GPRS is veryyyyyyyyy SLOW !!!

just noticed one thing... if you go to options...about.. it says "GPRS , CDMA" not "EDGE, CDMA" does this mean that on GSM,it will only work on GPRS ??

i'm 99% sure that the 8830 doesn't support EDGE, just GPRS.

Hypermaster is correct. its only works at GPRS since primary function is CDMA EV-DO. GSM only 'roaming' function
