so my cousin recently gave me his old 8830 WE and he hasn't used it a while. when i got it i brought it home and tried recharging it. didn't work and didn't even turn on. so i pulled out the battery and plugged in the phone the red light turned on then a little battery icon with a line through it appeared and stayed that way. then i looked at the battery and it was bulged. so would the problem be the battery or the phone itself?

It sounds like the battery. See if you can borrow one, or try one at a Verizon store before you buy one. Before you spend any money on the 8830, know that it won't work on Rogers. The GSM side of the 8830 only works on European GSM frequencies, not North American.

it proabbaly is the battery. Also the fact that it wont work on rodgers sort of defeats the world edition concept, right?
