Default Adding extensions or passwords to Speed Dial

I have had a lot of cell phones over the years and this is the first time I could not figure out how to add an extension, (with pauses built in) to a speed-dial. I have looked all over the user guide but I must be missing it.
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Not used this feature in years. Try editing a phone number, adding a 'p' after the main number then add the extension number...

    Does that work?

While dialing the number hit the menu button (next to the send button) and select "add pause" or "add wait." I use two "pauses" to dial my password for voice mail.

Two pauses work for Verizon voicemail. Each pause is two seconds.
