Well I had an older type phone which broke today and my stepdad works for a company that gave him the old phones and he got a few BB 8830 WE phones.

I had an alltel phone and our company just switched to verizon as everyone knows but my phone broke.

I need to know if I can use this BB 8830 WE phone its by Alltel, assuming alltel/verizon is the same thing it should work?

but my concern is do I need a sim card? or microsd card?

because I do not have either of those.

    please help asap

You might want a microSD card to store music, pictures, ringtones, and videos, but it is not required for the phone to operate. You don't need a SIM card. You may or may not be able to get Verizon to activate your 8830 on their network. Both they and Sprint typically don't. However, it won't hurt to try. You might have a better chance of success since you were an Alltel customer.
