My husband's port on his 8830WE is damaged. Sprint's tech support and repair center could not fix it so they replaced the phone. The problem is hundreds of contacts are on his 8830WE. The battery is dead and the port is broken so I can't think of a way to retrieve his contacts. Is there anyway to repair/replace the port and/or retrieve the contacts???
New Battery, and transfer contacts via bluetooth? Just thinking out loud here, but getting a new battery wouldn't be a total waste either, as he would have it as a spare for his current device as well.
Easiest solution is to use a charged battery and then get the contacts off with Bluetooth Sync to DM instead of USB. Someone wrote up a doc on how to do it. I can do it no problem with a Broadcom Bluetooth chipset laptop, but have run into issues with those that have Toshiba Bluetooth chipsets.
If the replaced his 8830 with another one, then just take the battery from the first phone and charge it in the second. You can then back up the data off of the old phone and restore it on the new one.
