this there big difference in the size of the curve over the 8830?
i like the full keyboard on the curve i see the keys aren't together. but it looks like the viewing screen is smaller. alltel is suppose to get the curve
also. don't know if i should go after it or just keep the 8830?

I'm interested in that also. I love my 8830 but I would like a camera. Wondering if anyones made that switch?

The Curve is great. Love the size and feel of it in my hand. The camera is really good and the new OS is suppose to add video recording

I like the looks of the Curve. I'm hoping that US Cellular gets the Curve later this year.

I have the 8830 and it most definitely works for me. Love the form factor and in my case, I really never used a camera with all my other phones so it's not an issue. I also like the feel of this keyboard over the Curve.

The Curve is a bit smaller then the 8830, but the screen is identical in size.

I have had the 8830 for two weeks now. I saw the curve at a local mall and I want the curve instead. I thought that it felt better in my hand and the keyboard seemed easier to type on. I have Alltel and don't know when they will get the curve, but when they do, I would like to switch. The 8830 is a very nice phone, but it feels slippery in my hand and the keyboard is cramped.

It really isn't hard to pick between the two phones. When it comes down to it, it really comes down to two things: the need for a camera and the size of your hands. If you NEED a camera, will the Curve is your only option (not including the Pearl). If you have big hands, then the Curve might be the better choice as it has raised keys that are seperate from each other.

Why not wait till Verizon release the Curve in May, then you can return you 8830 and get a refund of $100.00 from Verizon.
PS. I spoke to a manager at the Verizon store in my neck of the woods and was told that Verizon isn't shipping any more new 8830 to the Stores. If you should need a new 8830 they'll have to special order it for you.

I must agree totally with that.
Also if i want to shoot a really good picture, ill use my Canon or Nikon camera.
I had a pearl for a short time, i used the camera once..

If i used the camera daily, things might be different..

The reason why I put that link for you to confirm the specs of the phone. At the bottom of it you see that will be a CDMA phone only.

I don't really care about the 8830. It's a nice phone, but the keyboard and the lack of a camera just doesn't work for me. I only got it because I wanted to play with a blackberry for a month and, get a full refund and, then hopefully the news regarding the curve's official timeframe for release would surface. Sure enough it worked out just like I thought it would
